Sui joins OpenAssets to extend the Open Tokenized Asset Standard

Sui has signed on to help build a common rulebook for tokenized assets. On October 1, 2026, the Sui Foundation and Mysten Labs announced a collaboration with OpenAssets to implement the Open Tokenized Asset Standard, or OTAS, inside the Sui ecosystem. What Sui and OpenAssets are building OTAS is an open-source framework that doesn’t favor any particular blockchain. Its goal is to standardize the interfaces that tokenized assets depend on. Those interfaces cover several areas: identity, compliance, asset metadata and settlement. Today, each ledger and institution tends to handle these in its own way. The standard is designed to support portable compliance records and ownership histories. Put another way, an asset’s paperwork could travel with it, rather than staying locked inside one network. Adeniyi Abiodun, Co-Founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, framed the standard as offering a “shared language” for key financial operations.
