Litecoin Foundation signs MOU with Greywick Digital to bring cLTC to Canton Network

Litecoin has been processing payments since 2011. Now its foundation wants the coin to show up somewhere it has rarely been seen: the trading desks of big financial institutions. The Litecoin Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Greywick Digital to develop cLTC, a tokenized version of LTC that would live on the Canton Network. The agreement was signed on October 1, 2026, and the stated goal is to make Litecoin easier to trade in institutional circles. What the deal actually covers Real LTC gets locked up in reserve, and a token representing it circulates on Canton, where institutions already operate. Greywick Digital brings the issuance side of that arrangement. The firm specializes in asset issuance and independent attestation on Canton, which means it handles creating the token and having a third party verify that the backing exists. The reserves behind cLTC are designed to be disclosed publicly. The token will use CIP-56, a token standard on Canton. The Litecoin Foundation has also endorsed cLTC as the official version of Litecoin for institutional applications.
