Traders fully price in Federal Reserve rate hike in October after PPI data

Interest-rate futures markets are now pricing in a 100% probability of at least one Federal Reserve rate hike by the October 2026 FOMC meeting, a shift driven by the latest Producer Price Index report that showed wholesale inflation running well above the Fed’s comfort zone. The August PPI came in at 0.4% month-over-month, matching consensus expectations. But the year-over-year number told a more uncomfortable story: 5.4%, which exceeded some forecasts and sits more than three percentage points above the Fed’s 2% target.
