OpenAI has temporarily stopped accepting new subscribers for its ChatGPT Pro 20x plan, the company’s most expensive consumer offering at $200 per month. Current subscribers can keep using the service without interruption, but anyone hoping to sign up fresh is out of luck for now. What the Pro 20x tier actually offers ChatGPT Pro 20x delivers 20 times the messaging limits of the standard ChatGPT Plus plan, which runs $20 per month. The tier also grants enhanced access to OpenAI’s most advanced models and tools, including GPT-5. OpenAI originally launched its first ChatGPT Pro plan back in December 2024. Since then, the company has expanded its subscription lineup to include a mid-tier option at $100 per month, offering five times the usage limits of Plus, introduced in 2026. The $20 per month ChatGPT Plus plan remains available and unaffected by the pause. Why OpenAI hits the brakes This isn’t the first time OpenAI has pumped the brakes on signups.
