Supermicro launches AI rack series under DCBBS portfolio, betting big on liquid-cooled infrastructure

Supermicro just dropped ten new AI rack models designed to make deploying massive GPU clusters feel less like building a skyscraper and more like assembling IKEA furniture. Well, very expensive, liquid-cooled, 5,500-pound IKEA furniture. The new series, unveiled on July 30 under the company’s Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) portfolio, targets the exact bottleneck that’s been frustrating AI infrastructure buyers: the gap between ordering hardware and actually getting it running. Supermicro’s pitch is simple. These racks arrive factory-assembled, pre-tested, and ready to power on. What’s actually in the box The lineup spans four rack configurations: 44OU, 48U, 48OU, and 52U. For the non-data-center-architects reading this, those numbers describe the physical height of each rack in standardized units, with the “O” variants featuring open configurations for better airflow and cooling access. Each rack is optimized for NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin/GB300 (MGX) platform and meets OCP ORv3 standards.
