Solana processes over 800M non-vote transactions, setting new weekly record

Solana just posted over 800 million successful non-vote transactions in a single week, marking a new all-time high and the second consecutive week the network has broken its own record. That distinction, “non-vote,” matters more than it sounds. Blockchain networks like Solana generate enormous transaction counts from validator consensus activity, the routine housekeeping that keeps the chain running. Strip those out, and you’re left with what actually reflects human behavior: trades, token transfers, DeFi interactions, NFT mints. By that measure, Solana just had its busiest week ever. What’s driving the surge The catalyst has a decidedly unsexy name: SIMD-0286. This network upgrade, implemented on July 29, raised the maximum compute limit per block by 66%. The results were almost immediate. Daily non-vote transactions climbed to 169.9 million on August 4, then pushed higher to 171.9 million by August 10. On a monthly basis, non-vote transactions hit 5.2 billion in August, up from 4.2 billion in July.
