The Pentagon is making its biggest bet yet on artificial intelligence, requesting roughly $29.5 billion under what it calls the “AI Arsenal initiative” as part of its fiscal 2027 budget proposal. The goal: build secure, government-owned data centers and supercomputing facilities instead of relying on the likes of AWS and Azure for the military’s most sensitive workloads.
