KB Securities, Securitize, and Optimism sign MOU for tokenized securities in Korea

KB Securities, one of South Korea’s premier brokerage houses, has formally partnered with Securitize and the Optimism Foundation to build tokenized investment products for institutional clients in the Korean market. The memorandum of understanding was signed on September 21 and announced publicly two days later. The initial product lineup will include tokenized money market funds and a fund built around strategies from KB Asset Management. Settlement will run on the OP Mainnet, Optimism’s Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network. For KB Securities, this represents a first foray into tokenization. What the partnership actually looks like The division of labor is clean. KB Securities handles issuance and distribution to its institutional client base. Securitize provides the tokenization platform and serves as transfer agent. The Optimism Foundation manages the underlying blockchain infrastructure on OP Mainnet. Future phases of the partnership envision tokenized stocks, American depositary receipts, corporate bonds, and Korean government bonds.
