JPMorgan tops the Evident AI Index for the fifth straight year

JPMorgan Chase is once again the most AI-advanced bank in the world, according to the 2026 Evident AI Index. That makes five consecutive years at the top of the ranking. How the ranking works, and who else made the cut The Evident AI Index, published on October 6, 2026, scores 50 major banks around the globe on the maturity of their AI efforts. Each bank is graded across pillars including Talent, Innovation, Leadership and Transparency. The scoring draws on millions of public data points and more than 70 separate indicators. Capital One finished second, and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) took third. North America dominated the top ten. Six US banks and two Canadian lenders claimed spots, and UBS, in sixth, was the only European bank to make the list. JPMorgan’s position rests on strong showings in Innovation, Leadership and Transparency, per the index findings. The bank also runs proprietary models, including an in-house large language model suite used by numerous employees. The payoff is getting easier to quantify.
