Injective Protocol plans major RWA mainnet upgrade

Injective, the Layer 1 blockchain built specifically for decentralized finance, has activated its IIP-677 mainnet upgrade to version 1.20.3. The upgrade went live on July 29, 2026, after clearing governance with a 72% approval rate from token holders. The centerpiece of the release is Injective Mint, a new tool designed to let issuers create tokenized equities and bonds that comply with SEC regulations. What the upgrade actually does The IIP-677 upgrade touches several layers of the Injective stack. Cross-chain interoperability gets a boost, block times are reduced, and staking mechanics for INJ, the network’s native token, have been optimized. The upgrade also opens new revenue streams for the protocol itself. Injective Mint is the most consequential piece. The platform enables compliant issuance of tokenized securities, backed by an SEC Transfer Agent filing and a MiCA compliance whitepaper.
