Infleqtion hits 30 logical qubits on its Sqale platform, a first for neutral-atom quantum systems

Infleqtion just pulled off something the quantum computing world has been waiting for: 30 entangled logical qubits running on a commercial system. The company achieved the feat using only 80 physical qubits on its Sqale platform, an 8:3 physical-to-logical ratio that makes most of the industry’s previous benchmarks look wildly inefficient. The announcement came on September 24, 2026, at the Quantum World Congress, following a series of experiments wrapped up in August. For context, Infleqtion demonstrated 2 logical qubits in 2024 and 12 in 2025. Going from 12 to 30 in roughly a year isn’t just incremental progress. It’s the kind of scaling curve that makes roadmaps look credible instead of aspirational. Why the ratio matters more than the raw number In quantum computing, logical qubits are the ones that actually do useful computation. Physical qubits are the underlying hardware that supports them, with most of the physical qubits dedicated to error correction rather than real work. The standard industry assumption has been that you’d need hundreds or even thousands of physical qubits per logical qubit to make fault-tolerant quantum computing viable. Infleqtion’s approach flips that...
