HYPE options activity surges ahead of October 9th expiry

Hyperliquid’s HYPE token is developing a derivatives footprint that looks increasingly serious. Four options contracts tied to the October 9, 2026 expiry have traded $3.67 million in notional value, according to data from Deribit, as traders crowd into short-dated positions ahead of a key expiry date. How we got here Deribit launched HYPE USDC options, futures, and perpetuals in June 2026, giving traders a formal venue to express directional views on the token beyond spot buying. Bybit followed with its own listings in August 2026, broadening access to a second major derivatives platform. Since August 9, 2026, HYPE options on Deribit have logged 26,820 trades and $5 million in total turnover. September 2026 has been the standout month. Month-to-date turnover through late September reached $2.9 million, with a single-day record of $540.6K printed on September 25. September’s volume alone accounts for more than half of the total since August 9. The October 9 expiry sits at the center of this.
