Binance’s XAUT perpetual contracts are pulling $2B in daily trading volume, and gold bugs are paying attention

Tether Gold perpetual contracts on Binance are now generating roughly $2 billion in daily trading volume. To put that in perspective, XAUT perpetual futures were clocking about $1.5 million in daily volume back in December 2025. That’s a jump of more than 1,300x in a matter of months. XAUT hit a peak daily trading volume of $6.4 billion on March 23, 2026. That spike was enough to make it the fifth most-traded perpetual pair on Binance, sitting alongside the usual suspects like BTC and ETH. Binance offers XAUT only as a perpetual futures contract, not a spot trading pair. That means traders aren’t buying tokenized gold to hold it. They’re using leverage to speculate on price movements, the same way they’d trade any other perp. The distinction matters because XAUT perpetual contracts behave differently from XAUUSDT pairs, which track gold’s spot market price directly. XAUT is Tether Gold, issued by the same company behind the USDT stablecoin.
