Bayern Munich’s Brahim Saibari scores second World Cup goal in two games

Ismael Saibari is doing something that most transfer targets only dream of: negotiating his own price tag on the biggest stage in football. The 25-year-old Moroccan forward has now scored in each of his first two World Cup matches, with Brahim Diaz providing the assist on his latest strike.

For Bayern Munich, who reached an agreement in principle to sign Saibari around June 15, this is either the best or worst possible timing.

From Eindhoven to the world stage

Saibari’s World Cup debut came against Brazil on June 15, and he wasted no time making an impression. He opened the scoring for Morocco in what ended as a 1-1 draw, finishing off a well-constructed team move that started with a pass from Brahim Diaz.

Saibari has been one of the most productive players in Dutch football, contributing to three consecutive Eredivisie titles with PSV Eindhoven. His goal tallies across competitions in his most recent PSV season ranged between 15 and 19.

The Bayern Munich connection

Bayern Munich’s agreement in principle to sign Saibari reportedly came together around the same day he scored against Brazil.

Morocco’s coach Mohamed Ouahbi addressed the transfer noise on June 18, confirming that Saibari’s focus remains entirely on the World Cup.

The Brahim Diaz connection adds another layer to the story. Diaz provided the assist on the goal against Brazil and again played a role in the buildup for the latest strike.
