Six of the biggest names in college athletics are now running fan loyalty programs built on Avalanche’s blockchain infrastructure, marking one of the largest coordinated deployments of crypto-native technology in collegiate sports to date. The University of Michigan, Penn State, LSU, Baylor, the University of Memphis, and the University of Nevada, Reno have all launched rewards platforms through Uptop, a fan engagement company that uses Avalanche under the hood. The rollouts happened primarily between August and September 2026, with Penn State kicking things off on August 24. How it works (and why fans won’t notice the blockchain part) Each school has its own branded program. Michigan calls theirs Wolverine Rewards. LSU went with Geaux Rewards. Penn State has Penn State Rewards, Baylor runs Baylor Bears Perks, Memphis chose GoTigersGo Rewards, and Nevada operates Wolf Pack Rewards. The mechanics across all six are similar.
