Anthropic just opened the doors, if only slightly, to its most powerful biology-focused AI. The company’s new Life Sciences Verification Program, which went live on September 17, is a gated beta that gives qualifying organizations access to advanced models purpose-built for drug discovery and biological research. The catch: it’s invite-only, requires an eligibility review, and approval isn’t guaranteed. What the program actually offers Organizations that clear the verification process gain access to Anthropic’s Mythos 5.1 model, along with Opus 5 and Sonnet 5. These are the company’s highest-capacity models for biology-related tasks, spanning everything from protein engineering to virology research. Interested teams need to submit an admin form and wait for Anthropic’s review. The program also sits alongside Anthropic’s existing AI for Science credit program, which provides researchers with credits ranging from $20,000 to $50,000. Anthropic has built in biosafety classifiers and controlled access pathways specifically designed to manage dual-use risks.
