Zcash holders back 25-second blocks in NU7 vote

Zcash holders have overwhelmingly backed faster blocks and the network’s existing halving schedule in a private governance poll involving nearly 2.4 million ZEC. Summary Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated, representing roughly 66% of eligible Ironwood balances at snapshot time. About 99.9% of participating ZEC supported cutting block target spacing from 75 to 25 seconds. Roughly 98.9% of participating ZEC favored preserving scheduled halvings instead of adopting smoothed issuance mechanics. About 96.6% backed February 2031 for beginning NSM reissuance of ZEC previously removed from circulation. NU7 features unfinished by September 30 would be dropped under the option preferred by coinholders. The Zcash Community Forum’s published NU7 results show participation equal to roughly 66% of the 3.6 million ZEC held in the eligible Ironwood pool at the snapshot height. Organizers had set 1 million ZEC as the minimum participation level needed to consider the poll representative of coinholders.
