Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured a loan deal for Welsh international midfielder Jordan James from Stade Rennais, adding a player who lit up the Championship last season to their squad as they plot an immediate return to the Premier League. The agreement includes a £10M option to buy, giving Wolves a clear path to making the move permanent if James delivers the kind of performances he produced during his time at Leicester City. A proven Championship performer James, 22, is no stranger to English football. Born on July 2, 2004, the midfielder made 95 appearances for Birmingham City between 2021 and 2024 before making the move to Ligue 1 with Rennes. But it was his loan spell at Leicester City during the 2025-26 season that turned him into one of the Championship’s most sought-after midfielders. Eleven goals in 34 Championship appearances is a serious return for a central midfielder. His contract situation at Rennes, which runs until June 2026, made a deal feasible.
