VfB Stuttgart have secured one of the more interesting young forwards in German football this summer, agreeing a €25 million deal with VfL Wolfsburg for 21-year-old Dženan Pejčinović. The agreement was confirmed around August 8-9, 2026, wrapping up weeks of back-and-forth negotiations that tested both clubs’ patience. How the deal came together Stuttgart did not land this one easily. Earlier bids reportedly ranged between €18 million and €23.5 million including potential bonuses, meaning the clubs haggled through multiple rounds before settling on a clean €25 million figure. Negotiations intensified through July 2026 before both sides finally shook hands in early August. FC Porto had identified Pejčinović as a target and pushed to bring him to Portugal. Stuttgart ultimately won out because Pejčinović wanted to stay in Germany. Wolfsburg, for their part, were not exactly in a position of strength. The club was relegated from the Bundesliga during the 2025/26 season. Pejčinović’s deal ran until June 2029, so Wolfsburg were not forced to sell, but holding onto an ambitious young forward at a second-division club is its own kind of negotiation.
