US military allows nearly 30 humanitarian vessels through Iran blockade as enforcement intensifies

The US Navy is threading a needle in the waters around Iran: aggressively enforcing a maritime blockade while waving through nearly 30 ships carrying humanitarian cargo. US Central Command reported on July 31 that since the blockade’s resumption on July 14, forces have redirected 30 commercial vessels, disabled two non-compliant ships, and boarded two others. At the same time, nearly 30 vessels carrying humanitarian aid were permitted to pass through the blockade zone.
