The BLS recorded just +57,000 nonfarm payroll jobs for the month, a number that landed well below the pace economists had grown accustomed to in prior years, while the unemployment rate held at 4.2%. What the forecasts are saying For July, economists are penciling in a modest recovery. Consensus estimates from FactSet and Dow Jones place job additions somewhere between +80,000 and +100,000, with the unemployment rate expected to stay flat at 4.2%. Revelio Labs, which publishes its own Public Labor Statistics ahead of the official BLS release, put out an estimate of +79,200 jobs for July.
