UniCredit SpA, Italy’s biggest bank by assets, has acquired a minority stake in VC Trade, a German digital platform built for private debt and lending markets. The move is designed to deepen UniCredit’s footprint in digital capital markets, particularly around debt transactions where manual processes still slow things down. VC Trade isn’t a startup throwing around buzzwords. Founded in March 2018, the platform has facilitated more than 600 transactions totaling over €90 billion, working with a network of over 1,600 banks and institutional investors across Europe.
