The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed it detected a missile threat using its air defense systems, triggering yet another activation of the country’s layered defensive network. The announcement, reported by Iran International, adds to a growing list of incidents in 2026 that have tested the Gulf state’s military readiness against incoming projectiles. A year of interceptions On March 7, UAE air defenses detected 16 ballistic missiles and successfully intercepted 15 of them. The tempo picked up further on May 4, when the country’s defense systems engaged a more complex threat package: 12 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 4 drones, totaling 19 aerial threats in a single wave. The threats have been consistently traced back to launches originating from Iran. In July 2026, the UAE Ministry of Interior took the unusual step of issuing a public safety alert confirming that air defense systems were actively addressing a missile threat.
