Two men from Dallas are in custody after police tied them to an attempted armed home invasion in South San Jose. Authorities say the targets were people believed to be sitting on substantial crypto holdings. The suspects allegedly showed up dressed as delivery workers, one of them holding a gun. The plan fell apart for a simple reason: nobody opened the door. What happened in South San Jose The attempted break-in took place on September 5, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m. Investigators say two people approached a home in South San Jose while posing as delivery personnel. One of them reportedly displayed a firearm as they tried to get inside. When the resident didn’t answer, the pair fled. The San Jose Police Department used automated license plate reader technology, known as ALPR, to help track the suspects. Think of ALPR as a network of cameras that log plates as cars pass by, creating a searchable trail of where a vehicle has been.
