Tesla buys Virtuix’s Omni One treadmill system to train its Optimus humanoid robots

Tesla just became the first buyer of Virtuix’s Omni One Enterprise system, and the purchase is headed straight to the Optimus humanoid robot division. The omnidirectional treadmill, which allows a human operator to walk, run, and move naturally while controlling a robot or avatar in real time, is now part of Tesla’s toolkit for developing its ambitious humanoid robotics program. Virtuix Holdings (NASDAQ: VTIX) disclosed the sale on July 27, 2026. What the Omni One actually does The Omni One allows a human operator to walk, turn, crouch, and move with full-body replication in either a simulated environment or transmitted to a physical robot in real time. The system supports applications across robotics, defense, and aerospace training scenarios. Virtuix has already been working with NASA on Moon and Mars simulation projects, giving astronauts a way to practice surface operations without leaving Earth. The company also collaborated with the University of Central Florida on a teleoperation project and partnered with 1HMX for the Nexus NX1 humanoid control system.
