Singapore allocates $173M for fintech innovation over three years

Singapore is writing another large check for its financial technology ambitions. The Monetary Authority of Singapore unveiled FSTI 4.0 on August 31, committing up to S$220 million, roughly US$173 million, over three years to deepen the country’s standing as a global fintech hub. That figure represents a meaningful step up from the previous cycle. FSTI 3.0 had earmarked up to S$150 million through March 2026, covering projects across artificial intelligence, data analytics, environmental reporting tools, regulatory technology, and quantum computing research. What the money is actually for FSTI 4.0 is structured around six distinct funding tracks, each targeting a specific weakness or opportunity in Singapore’s fintech stack. The broad areas include accelerating technology adoption across financial institutions, building shared infrastructure that smaller players can access without building from scratch, anchoring high-value innovation projects in Singapore, and growing the talent base that makes all of it possible.
