Romelu Lukaku, the 33-year-old Belgian striker, has agreed personal terms with Turkish Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe. The transfer will add an eleventh senior club to his résumé if the two sides can close a gap on the transfer fee. As of August 8, 2026, Lukaku has reached an agreement in principle on a contract that would run until 2028, with an option to extend through 2029. Now it’s Napoli and Fenerbahçe’s turn to figure out the transfer fee. The price gap Napoli has set an asking price of approximately €10 million for a player entering the final year of his contract. A significant chunk of it, around 40%, would flow directly to Chelsea as part of a sell-on clause baked into Lukaku’s 2024 transfer to Naples. Fenerbahçe’s initial offers are expected to land in the €5–6 million range, roughly half of what the Italian side is demanding. Fenerbahçe has been circling this deal since January 2026. For Napoli, trimming Lukaku’s wages — currently around €8–11 million gross annually — from the payroll is a key motivation alongside the transfer fee, as the club is in the middle of a broader restructuring effort.
