OpenAI nears $70B in annualized revenue amid strong growth

OpenAI’s annualized recurring revenue run rate is approaching $70 billion as of late September 2026, up from more than $40 billion just a month earlier. That’s a roughly 70% jump since the start of Q3, the kind of growth curve that makes even seasoned tech observers do a double take. The acceleration is being driven by a simultaneous surge in both enterprise and consumer markets, with enterprise sales alone more than doubling since July. Consumer revenue during Q3 has already surpassed the total consumer revenue OpenAI generated across all of 2025. To put that in perspective: an entire year’s worth of consumer spending got eclipsed in a single quarter. What’s fueling the revenue explosion The growth story has two distinct engines. On the business side, enterprise adoption has reached what can only be described as escape velocity.
