OpenAI enables project and chat synchronization across platforms

OpenAI rolled out a series of updates that synchronize projects, chats, and voice capabilities across its AI tools, including Codex and ChatGPT Work. The result is a unified workspace where you can start a session on one device and continue it on another without losing context. The centerpiece of the update, which began rolling out on July 9, 2026, is the merger of the standalone Codex application directly into ChatGPT’s desktop app for both macOS and Windows.
