Here’s something you don’t hear every day: the CEO of the most hyped AI company on the planet openly admitting a competitor beat them to the punch. Sam Altman, in a March 2026 interview with Wired, conceded that OpenAI fell behind Anthropic’s Claude Code in the AI coding tools race. The numbers tell the story pretty clearly.
