NXP in talks to acquire Ambarella in $3.3B edge AI chip deal

NXP Semiconductors is in discussions to acquire Ambarella, the edge AI chip specialist behind the vision processors powering automotive cameras and self-driving systems. The Financial Times first reported the talks on July 31, 2026, and while no deal is guaranteed, the market reacted immediately: Ambarella’s stock surged, and NXP’s shares fell more than 3%.
