Nvidia reportedly in talks to acquire Reflection AI, its open-model bet

Nvidia is in talks to acquire Reflection AI, according to a post circulating on X. The chipmaker has not confirmed any such discussions, and no acquisition talks have been independently substantiated. If the report holds up, it would be less of a surprise purchase and more of a relationship going official. Nvidia already has approximately $800 million riding on Reflection. A startup Nvidia already knows well Reflection AI isn’t a stranger walking into Nvidia’s office with a pitch deck. The two companies already work together on GPU supply. They also collaborate through the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition, Nvidia’s initiative around open models. The startup was founded by former Google DeepMind researchers. It has grown fast, even by AI-boom standards. Its latest funding round set a pre-money valuation of $25 billion. Earlier rounds valued it at $8 billion, which makes the jump roughly a tripling. Backers include Sequoia and Lightspeed. Add Nvidia’s check, and Reflection has assembled a fairly heavyweight cap table.
