Nvidia added somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 billion to its market capitalization in a single trading session on August 27, making it the largest one-day gain in market value any company has ever recorded. Shares climbed as much as 9% intraday, the chipmaker’s strongest performance since April 2025. The catalyst was almost comically straightforward: Nvidia printed a quarter so far above expectations that even the most bullish analysts had to recalibrate. Fiscal Q2 2026 revenue landed at $96.2 billion, a 106% jump from the same period a year ago and roughly $4 billion above consensus estimates of $92.2 billion. The numbers behind the surge Nvidia’s data-center division generated $89 billion in revenue during the quarter, representing a 117% year-over-year increase.
