Nvidia and Wistron open $700 million AI superchip factory in Texas, signaling massive infrastructure buildout

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang showed up in Fort Worth, Texas this week to cut the ribbon on something that looks a lot like the future of American manufacturing. Wistron, the Taiwanese electronics giant, officially opened its $700 million AI server manufacturing plant, a facility purpose-built to churn out the silicon brains behind what Nvidia hopes will be one of the world’s most powerful AI supercomputers. The facility, dubbed D1, spans 324,000 square feet and represents Wistron’s first factory on American soil. It’s designed to produce Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip at a pace of tens of thousands of boards per month. From announcement to assembly line in under a year The speed here is notable. Wistron announced a $761 million investment in Texas back in October 2025. Fort Worth won the site selection over competing locations in August 2025. And by July 2026, the factory doors were open and boards were rolling off the line.
