Monad surpasses 1M gasless transactions via MetaMask integration

Monad has crossed 1 million gasless transactions through MetaMask’s gas sponsorship feature, a milestone reached roughly five months after the integration went live on March 10, 2026. That makes Monad the first blockchain network to support the feature. The premise is straightforward: instead of requiring users to hold and spend the native gas token every time they want to do something on-chain, MetaMask automatically covers the network fees for eligible transactions. How the gas sponsorship actually works To qualify for sponsored transactions, users need to hold at least 10 MON tokens in their wallet. They also need to maintain that 10 MON minimum after the transaction completes. The feature covers token swaps, sends, and interactions with decentralized applications. Sponsored transactions are capped at activities consuming fewer than 5 million gas units, and hardware wallets are currently unsupported, meaning the feature is restricted to MetaMask’s software wallet for now. Monad’s broader play Monad’s mainnet launched in late November 2025 as an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain, meaning developers can port over Ethereum-native tools, contracts, and applications without rewriting...
