Nvidia just handed Micron Technology one of the most valuable stamps of approval in the semiconductor industry. CEO Jensen Huang confirmed in early June 2026 that Nvidia has officially qualified Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron as suppliers of high-bandwidth memory (HBM4) for its next-generation Vera Rubin AI accelerator platform. The move broadens Nvidia’s supplier base to include all three major HBM manufacturers, a strategic shift designed to shore up supply chains as AI chip demand continues to outpace production capacity across the industry. Why this matters for Micron Micron entered this certification race with momentum already at its back. The company began high-volume production of its HBM4 chips in the first quarter of 2026, featuring a 36GB 12-high stack configuration with bandwidth exceeding 2.8 terabytes per second. Compared to its predecessor, HBM3E, Micron’s latest memory technology delivers a 2.3x improvement in bandwidth and more than 20% better power efficiency. In the data center world, where electricity costs can rival the hardware itself, that efficiency gain translates directly into lower operating expenses for Nvidia’s customers. Perhaps the most tell...
