Meta apologizes to Indian officials over Modi post restriction, raising broader questions about tech regulation

Meta just did something the company rarely does: it said sorry. The apology, delivered directly to Indian government officials on August 5, came after the platform temporarily restricted a Facebook post by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The restricted post was a selfie video Modi originally shared on Instagram on July 23, addressing youth protests over exam irregularities.
