Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea City, with the club confirming the deal is now approved subject to registration. The young Welsh stopper becomes the latest addition to United’s summer rebuild under head coach Michael Carrick. Margetson, a Welsh U21 international, arrives at Old Trafford after his contract with Swansea expired. A compensation package was agreed between the two clubs, clearing the final hurdle for the move to go through. From Connah’s Quay to the Theatre of Dreams The goalkeeper spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Welsh Premier League. In 34 appearances for Nomads, Margetson kept 10 clean sheets. His contributions helped Connah’s Quay secure qualification for European competition. Swansea confirmed earlier in July 2026 that the goalkeeper had decided to leave the club. United’s goalkeeping depth gets a boost At 19 or 20 years old, Margetson is not expected to immediately challenge for the first-team starting spot.
