Leeds United are in negotiations to sign goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Italian Serie A club Parma, adding a high-profile name to their squad as they prepare for life back in the Premier League. The 23-year-old Japanese international has become one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in European football, and Leeds appear to be at the front of the queue.

Parma have reportedly placed a price tag of approximately €30 million, or roughly £25.8 million, on Suzuki.

What we know about the deal

Leeds are preparing to submit an official bid for Suzuki, with preliminary discussions already underway between the two clubs. The Yorkshire side is reportedly considering a long-term contract that could extend until 2031.

Aston Villa have also been linked with interest in Suzuki, but Leeds are understood to be leading the pursuit.

Suzuki’s performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Japan elevated his profile considerably.

Suzuki’s path to Parma

Born on August 21, 2002, in the United States to a Ghanaian father and a Japanese mother, he holds dual nationality. He developed his career in Japan before making the move to Europe.

He joined Parma in 2024 after a stint at Belgian club Sint-Truiden, having originally come through the ranks at Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan’s J-League.
