Klarna overhauls leadership, seeks New York-based finance chief

Klarna is shaking up the C-suite. The Swedish fintech company announced that both its Chief Financial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer will be stepping down, with the company actively searching for a New York-based CFO to replace the outgoing Niclas Neglén. What’s changing at the top CFO Niclas Neglén has held the role since March 2021 and joined Klarna’s board in February 2025. He’ll continue overseeing finance and investor relations through an early 2027 transition period. CMO David Sandström, who has been with Klarna for nine years, is also departing. Like Neglén, he’ll stay on through the handover phase. CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski acknowledged both executives’ contributions to Klarna’s growth trajectory, including the company’s IPO preparation and brand development. The announcements arrived alongside Klarna’s Q2 2026 earnings release on August 18, 2026.
