KB Kookmin Bank launches cross-border payment service on JPMorgan’s Kinexys blockchain

South Korea’s biggest bank is plugging into JPMorgan’s blockchain infrastructure to move US dollars across borders. KB Kookmin Bank will launch a corporate cross-border payment service in August 2026 built on Kinexys, JPMorgan’s permissioned blockchain platform, targeting import and export businesses that need to send money to 10 countries. The move makes KB Kookmin the first South Korean financial institution to use Kinexys for commercial payments. No public crypto tokens are involved. This is blockchain without the volatility, running on JPMorgan’s private Blockchain Deposit Accounts rather than anything you’d find on a decentralized exchange. What KB Kookmin is actually building The service covers USD remittances to South Korea, the US, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, India, Thailand, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, and South Africa. Kinexys supports programmable payments and near real-time foreign exchange settlements while integrating with existing infrastructure like SWIFT.
