Hull City’s latest attempt to bolster their attack just hit a wall. The Championship club tabled a bid reported at £17.3 million for Toulouse striker Emersonn, and the French club said no.
A hot market for a young striker
Emersonn is 21 years old, Brazilian, and under contract with Toulouse until June 2029.
This isn’t the first time a serious offer has been waved away. Real Sociedad reportedly made a €14 million approach back in May 2026. That bid was also turned down.
Monaco has been linked with interest as well, making this a three-way (at minimum) contest that spans England, Spain, and France.
Hull’s reported bid of £17.3 million, or roughly £15 million depending on which outlet you trust with the fee structure, represents a meaningful step up from Real Sociedad’s earlier offer. Toulouse still wasn’t moved.

The rejection came around June 20, 2026, which means the summer window is in full swing.
The broader transfer market picture
Emersonn’s situation is a case study in how modern transfer economics work for young, contracted players at mid-table European clubs. Toulouse doesn’t need to sell. They have contractual security through 2029, multiple interested parties, and a player whose value is still arguably rising.
The rejected bids from both Hull and Real Sociedad suggest Toulouse’s internal valuation sits well above the €14-17 million range that’s been tested so far.
