Google, Microsoft and OpenAI urge stronger cyber defenses against AI threats

More than 100 companies, including some of the biggest names in tech and finance, just told the world something unsettling: we are running out of time to defend against AI-powered cyberattacks. The joint open letter, issued on August 27, 2026, carries signatures from OpenAI, Microsoft, Alphabet (Google’s parent), Amazon, and Anthropic, among others. Their message is blunt. Organizations and governments need to treat cyber defense as an immediate leadership priority, not a line item buried in an IT budget somewhere.
