Fiserv’s Digital Asset Platform goes live with North Dakota’s Roughrider Coin

North Dakota now has its own digital dollar. You just can’t use it to buy groceries. Roughrider Coin, a stablecoin from the Bank of North Dakota (BND), is the first live use case on Fiserv’s Digital Asset Platform, which officially launched on October 1, 2026. The token has one job: moving money between banks faster than the traditional rails allow. Who does what in the Roughrider setup BND handles governance. VersaBank is the issuer. Fireblocks provides the infrastructure. Solana is the settlement layer. Fiserv ties it all together through platform integration. Roughrider Coin is backed 1:1 by US dollars and is permissioned. Every token is matched by a real dollar, and only approved participants get access. Usage is limited to bank-to-bank payments within North Dakota’s interbank network. Individuals and businesses won’t be holding it in their own wallets. Roughrider Coin plugs into Fiserv’s existing Commercial Center banking system.
