Fireblocks joins Agentic Payments Alliance to build infrastructure for AI-powered commerce

The future of commerce might not involve you at all. Or at least, not the part where you actually click “buy.” Fireblocks, the digital asset infrastructure platform that has secured over $14 trillion in transactions, has joined the Agentic Payments Alliance (APA) as a founding member. The coalition, announced on August 18 by enterprise stablecoin infrastructure provider Rain, brings together more than 25 organizations to build the rails for a world where autonomous AI agents execute payments on behalf of humans. The roster reads like a payments industry all-star team: Visa, Mastercard, Fiserv, Circle, and Solana are all founding members. What agentic commerce actually means The term “agentic commerce” describes a model where AI agents don’t just recommend purchases or fill out forms. They initiate, authorize, and complete financial transactions autonomously. McKinsey projects this market could reach $3 to $5 trillion globally by 2030.
