Esports giants G2 and HLE clash at MSI 2026, but crypto remains on the sidelines

1 hour ago 2

Two of the most decorated League of Legends organizations on the planet are set to square off this Sunday at MSI 2026 in South Korea. G2 Esports, representing Europe’s LEC, will face Korean powerhouse Hanwha Life Esports in a bracket stage matchup that has fans on both sides of the globe clearing their calendars.

G2 earned their ticket to the HLE showdown by taking down Top Esports, one of China’s premier squads, in the earlier bracket rounds. HLE, competing out of the LCK, has been navigating their own side of the bracket, recently facing off against Team Secret Whales. G2 and HLE have met before on the international stage, including a memorable encounter at the 2024 World Championship. The tournament is being held in Daejeon, South Korea.

Neither G2 nor HLE appear to have any crypto assets, tokens, or blockchain protocols tied to their participation in this tournament. No fan tokens being shilled during broadcasts. No NFT ticket stubs. No metaverse watch parties. The event is operating as a purely traditional esports spectacle.
