Eoptolink Technology is betting big that the AI buildout is far from over. The Chengdu-based optical transceiver manufacturer grew its inventory value by 61% year-over-year to 11.7 billion yuan, roughly $1.7 billion, during the first half of 2026. The inventory surge is a deliberate strategy to lock in critical parts ahead of what Eoptolink sees as a sustained, possibly intensifying wave of demand for the high-speed optical modules that connect servers inside AI data centers. The numbers behind the bet Eoptolink’s first-half revenue hit approximately 20.91 billion yuan, nearly doubling compared to the same period a year earlier. Net income rose 91% to about 7.53 billion yuan. Gross margins landed around 48.5%. Those results are driven by the company’s position as a leading supplier of 800G and 1.6T optical modules. Eoptolink has secured significant orders from NVIDIA and AWS, two names that effectively set the tempo for global AI infrastructure spending. Why inventory matters more than usual The supply chain for high-speed optical components is notoriously constrained. Specialized lasers, modulators, and semiconductor dies require long lead times to procure, and the number of quali...
