DeepSeek has moved its AI agent framework out of the terminal and onto the desktop. The Chinese AI startup released Harness v0.2 on September 29, 2026, a desktop app built to handle everyday work tasks and coding jobs. The release comes about seven weeks after the developer preview. That is quick for a company whose name already makes Silicon Valley check its spending. What Harness v0.2 actually does Harness is an open-source runtime that runs locally on your machine. Out of the box, it targets three kinds of work: organizing files, analyzing data, and writing code. New abilities arrive through plugins, small add-ons that extend what the agent can do.
