David Beckham now has a permanent spot on Hollywood Boulevard. The former soccer icon received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 12, 2026, in a ceremony timed perfectly with the opening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Beckham’s star, the 2,849th on the Walk of Fame, was placed at 6819 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. It fell under the Sports Entertainment category.
A ceremony built for the moment
The event kicked off at 10:00 a.m. PT with Tom Cruise, a longtime friend of Beckham’s, among the featured speakers. Victoria Beckham also took the podium. Three of the couple’s four children, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, were in attendance.
The ceremony landed on the same day the 2026 FIFA World Cup got underway across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The man who made soccer American-adjacent
Beckham became a co-owner of Inter Miami CF, the club that would later lure Lionel Messi across the Atlantic. With the World Cup being jointly hosted by three North American nations for the first time, the trajectory Beckham helped set in motion is reaching its most visible peak.
Hollywood and soccer’s growing overlap
Having Tom Cruise present at the ceremony sent a signal that this wasn’t just a sports award. Victoria Beckham’s speaking role at the ceremony reinforced that the Beckham story has always been a family enterprise as much as an individual one.
