Comp AI raises $34M in Series A to automate compliance with open-source platform

Comp AI, a cybersecurity and compliance startup operating under the legal name Bubba AI, Inc., has closed a $34 million Series A round led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures. The raise marks a significant step up for a company that only emerged from stealth in April 2025 with a much smaller pre-seed war chest. The Silicon Valley-born startup builds an open-source, AI-native platform designed to automate the painful, spreadsheet-heavy grind of achieving compliance certifications like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR. From pre-seed to Series A in under a year Comp AI’s trajectory has been aggressive. The company raised $2.6 million in a pre-seed round co-led by OSS Capital and Grand Ventures, closing that funding in late July to early August 2025. Angel investors David Cramer and Ben Tossell also participated in that earlier round. By mid-2026, Comp AI reported annual recurring revenue between $5 million and $7 million, with a customer base somewhere between 680 and 900 companies.
